The Sweet Spot

The leather market has a U-curve.
Under $200: Fast fashion garbage (PVC or pigskin). Avoid.
Over $1,000: Luxury branding tax. Diminishing returns.
$300 - $500: The Goldilocks Zone. This is where you pay for materials and labor, not marketing.

1. The Value King: IndiFash Racer ($350)

Why: We are biased, but the math doesn't lie. We use Full-Grain Cowhide (1.2mm thickness) and YKK hardware. Because we are Direct-to-Consumer, there is no retailer markup. You are getting a $900 retail jacket for factory prices.

2. The Entry-Level Hero: Thursday Boot Co ($349)

Why: Known for their boots, their jackets are solid.
Pros: Great customer service, modern slim fit.
Cons: The leather is "Lambskin" which is soft but tears easily. Not for rugged use.

3. The Vintage Hack: Used Schott ($300-$500)

Why: A new Schott 618 costs $900+. But eBay is full of them.
Pros: Bulletproof construction. Instant street cred.
Cons: It might smell like cigarettes. You have to verify the authenticity. Sizing on vintage jackets is weird (boxy).

4. The British Classic: AllSaints Outlet ($300-$400)

Why: AllSaints is ubiquitous. Their retail prices are high ($500+), but their Outlet/Sale prices dip below $350.
Style: Very thin, distressed sheepskin. Fashion-forward, grunge aesthetic.
Durability: Lov.

5. The Custom Option: Independence Brothers ($400+)

Why: Made-to-measure.
Pros: You send your measurements, they sew it. Good for odd body types.
Cons: Long wait times (4-8 weeks). No returns if it doesn't fit.
