Leather Jacket Warranties: What Should a Good Brand Cover?
"Lifetime Warranty" - Marketing vs Reality
A "Lifetime Warranty" usually refers to the lifetime of the product, not your life.
Here is what a respectable warranty looks like.
What MUST Be Covered (Defects)
1. Hardware Failure (Year 1): If a zipper track splits, a slider snaps, or a snap button pops off within the first 12 months, that is a manufacturing defect. The brand should fix it for free.
2. Stitching Unraveling: If a seam simply opens up without being torn, that is bad thread tension. Covered.
What is NEVER Covered (Wear & Tear)
1. Scuffs/Scratches: If you scrape your arm against a brick wall, that is on you.
2. Fading: Sun bleaches leather. That is nature.
3. Lining Tears: Linings (silk/cotton) are fragile. They will rip after 3-5 years of heavy use. This is maintenance, like changing tires on a car.
The "Repair Policy" vs Warranty
The best brands (like us) offer a Repair Service. Even if the damage is your fault (you crashed your bike), we will fix the jacket for a fair fee because we want you to keep wearing it. Fast fashion brands will just tell you to buy a new one.
