How Many Leather Jackets Should You Own? (The Capsule Collection Answer)
The Law of Diminishing Returns
You can only wear one at a time (usually).
Owning 10 cheap jackets is worse than owning 1 perfect one. But if you are building a rotation, here is the roadmap.
Level 1: The Daily Driver (Total: 1)
Style: Cafe Racer or Clean Bomber.
Color: Black or Dark Brown.
Why: It works with jeans, chinos, and slacks. It works at the office and the bar. If you only own one, make it versatile.
Level 2: The Weekend Warrior (Total: 2)
Add: A Suede Trucker or Flight Jacket.
Color: Tan, Tobacco, or Navy.
Why: Suede is softer and more dressed up. It screams "Saturday Brunch" or "Date Night." It is not for rain, so you keep your Daily Driver for bad weather.
Level 3: The Heavy Armor (Total: 3)
Add: A Double Rider (Biker) or Shearling Coat.
Color: Black.
Why: This is for deep winter or concerts. It is heavy, aggressive, and makes a statement. You might only wear it 10 times a year, but you feel like a king when you do.
The Danger Zone (4+)
If you have more than 4, you aren't wearing them enough to "break them in." Leather needs body heat and movement to stay healthy. A jacket that sits in a closet for 2 years will stiffen up and develop mold.
